Mary Elizabeth Popieniek (Grossi)

   GLASTONBURY - Mary E. Grossi, 43, of 186 House St., died at home Tuesday morning [1/23/90] after a long illness.  She was the wife of Thomas Grossi.

   Born Jan. 9, 1947, in Meriden, a daughter of Henry and blanch Checko Popieniek, she had attended city schools and the University of Connecticut at Storrs.  Mrs. Grossi had been employed by Slocum Manufacturing Co. in Glastonbury.  She was a member of the Polish Falcons of America, Nest 444 in Meriden.

   Besides her husband and her parents, she is survived by three sons, Michael Grossi, Brian Grossi, and Stephen Grossi, all of Bloomfield; two daughters, karen Grossi and Jeanne Grossi, both of Bloomfield; her paternal grandmother, Helen Popieniek of Meriden; three brothers, John Popieniek of Charlotte, N.C., David Popieniek of Raymond, N.H., and Paul Popieniek of Meriden; a sister Barbara Morrell of Bristol; several aunts, uncles nieces and nephews.  

   She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Popieniek.
