Wayne Steven Wright Obituary - Meriden, CT | July 19, 1947 - June 18, 2018

Husband of Sandra (Bonanzinga) Wright. Died Tuesday, June 18, 2018 at Midstate Medical Center. Wayne was born in Middletown, the son of Barbara Wright and the late Frank Wright. He lived in South Meriden and Meriden for most of his life and was a 1965 graduate of Platt High School, where he excelled on the football and baseball fields.

He worked at New Departure, before entering the Army, and spent a tour in Vietnam. Upon his return he worked at Northeast Utilities, where he spent most of his 45-year career in the Yankee Gas Division as a chief gas fitter.

Wayne was a quick-witted, bigger than life type of guy who cared deeply for his family, country, company, co-workers and friends. He especially enjoyed his golf trips and wonderful vacations with family and friends in St. Martin and Rhode Island.

Wayne loved his "Tom's Place" family in South Meriden, where he spent many mornings among great friends who offered so much support throughout the years. There he will be remembered for his jokes, laughter and big heart.

Besides his wife, Sandy, he is survived by his mother, Barbara, beloved daughter, Renay Wright and son Wayne A. Wright, both of Meriden, son, Darren Wright and his wife Beth of Southington, and their little daughter Cassondra, who made her "Grumpy Grandpa" laugh so much. Wayne is also survived by his beloved canine friend, Casey - his retirement gift from the guys at Yankee Gas. He was predeceased by another chocolate lab, Tyler, who he also adored.
